Kiawah Island Butterfly-Digital Infrared

Image shot with a converted Canon D60 and a Canon 75-300mm f/5.6 lens at 155mm, f/4.5, IS0 200. If you mouse over the image, you will see that the background of the Raw file is brick colored while the leaves are white and the butterfly is black and white rather that black and yellow.

Using Nik Silver Efex Pro 2.0, I converted the image to black and white with the filter Film Noir. If you would like more information on Digital Infrared photography and what cameras are best for conversion, listed are several sources.

Golden Garlic

For Texture Tuesday, Golden Garlic has two layers of the Kim Klassen texture "golden", one with linear burn blending mode at 60% and the second with soft light blending mode at 39%. The image was then desaturated a little and a curves and levels adjustment done. All layers were flattened and with Snap Art 2, the golden garlic became an oil painting.

Boy on the Beach-Wassaw Island, Georgia

For Texture Tuesday, texture and a person assignment. Using just one texture (oceanside by Kim Klassen) several times, brushing away the texture from Luke and finishing with a levels and curves adjustment. Wassaw Island, a National Wildlife Refuge near Savannah, Georgia, is accessible only by private boat or from marina charters. With a wide expanse of beautiful unspoiled beach, it's my favorite place to spend the day with a picnic lunch.

Ft. Pulaski, Cockspur Island, Georgia

Over the many years, I have visited Ft. Pulaski, I have amassed many photographs beginning with a SLR film camera, then evolving to a DSLR and now working with creative lenses such as the Lensbaby. This photo was taken with the original Lensbaby 2.0 . You can see that the point of focus is on the cannon while the left side of the photo has what we call "creative blur". The original photo below is somewhat flat and uninteresting.

The two textures below were combined into one to create the final image. While in Bruges, Belgium this past month, I photographed a document framed under glass at the beautiful City Hall there.

After editing the text photo, I combined it with Kim Klassen's newest texture, Mayzee.

Vintage Currency from Chiang Kai-shek Era

From the Chiang Kai-shek era in China, this coin and paper money photo was processed using Kim Klassen's scratched magic and warm sun textures. Additional processing was done with Nik Efex Pro 2.0 software. My father-in-law, a B29 pilot, brought this money back from his travels while serving in the USAF near the end of WW11. Intrigued by money from different countries, my husband began a coin collection and eagerly awaited his Dad's return from his tours.
